TAXI BY GETTY IMAGES (article first published : 2002-10-8)

This month Gallo Images introduces Taxi by Getty Images, a new digest of trends, ideas and photographs presented for the first time in magazine format aimed at helping creatives to stay on top of industry trends in the visual communication field.

Marketed through a large format magazine, the new collection is designed to inspire and inform the industry about developmental projects in media, advertising and design. Each quarterly issue of Taxi by Getty Images will provide readers with topical cultural and societal research that reflects global trends.

A must-read for creative professionals worldwide, Taxi aims to offer accessible, informative and up beat views of pervading trends in the visual world and inspire marketers and advertisers around the globe to tell their stories and give life to creative ideas.

"Taxi is a manifestation of Getty Images' passion for pictures and their inherent drive to be the thought leader for visual communications and trends," said Pam Wills, Marketing Manager for Gallo Images. "For many years they have focused upon creative research where a dedicated team study market trends and demographics in order to anticipate the visual needs of our customers. They have decided to share this information directly with our customers. This intelligence is the foundation for Taxi."

The Taxi magazine will contain articles setting out the best of Getty Images' creative research, bound together with the photography generated from that research. Each magazine will include a Taxi Report" a thorough trend analysis relevant to advertisers and communicators.

The glossy impressive 416 page publication is also intended to replace Getty Images' FPG, The Telegraph Colour Library, Pix and Bavaria Bildagentur image collections. It will provide designers and art directors with a locally relevant visual language for their communications campaigns.

The goal with Taxi is to offer an accessible, informed and lively barometer of current trends in our visual world and inspire marketers and advertisers around the globe to tell their stories and give life to creative ideas," said Pam. "This is a new identity, new photographic direction, new magazine and a new marketing style to meet the needs of our customers directly."

The number of photographs is highly impressive and range from images of bright-eyed children in fun situations to senior citizens zestfully enjoying life.

Taxi is a rights managed brand and the pricing depends on the number of media an image is used in, the reach of the media, the time period, as well as the territories, e.g. national or international. As an example, for editorial purposes the use of an image once in a monthly magazine is R550 (excl Vat)

The publication is available free to members of the advertising industry while the images themselves vary in price. For more information contact Samantha Walt on 082-784-7453 or (021) 439 4593 or Pam Wills, Gallo Images marketing manager, on 083-234-7904.
