ART ON THE EDGE (article first published : 2002-08-14)

Art on the Edge is a half-an-hour arts program hosted by well-known radio personality, Michelle Constant every Wednesday on Safm from 12h30 to 13h00.

With a constant finger on the pulse of what's new in the world of visual arts and fringe festivals, Michelle keeps listeners up to date with the latest art events and exhibitions, experimental productions and workshops, specialized film festivals and all aspects of popular culture. Regular features include reports of what's hip-and happening in the world of arts by Compilers of the South African Handbook on Arts and Culture Tammy Ballantyne and Mike van Graan. As well as songs from her live studio recordings, which feature some of South Africa's hottest talent.

On this week's show (August 14), Michelle speaks to Doreen Nteta about the National Arts Council's involvement in the South African Music Week taking place this month. Also included in the line up is Transnet's Senior Manager on Arts and Culture Susie Mabie, talking about her company's contribution to the Arts and information on their upcoming events.

Curator Adrienne Sparks spoke to Michelle about the Exhibition of the !Xun and Kwhe San Art and Craft Project to take place in Melville Johannesburg. This week Art on the Edge sees a double dose of Tammy Ballantyne as she not only updates on the art scene but also explains what the Workshops on radio drama scriptwriting are about.
