BROADCAST SPONSOR (article first published : 2002-06-28)

SABC 3 has announced that it is once again the broadcast sponsor of the National Arts Festival, to be held in Grahamstown. It will screen four half-hour programmes on June 28, July 2, July 5 and July 12 in the 18h00 to 18h30.

These programmes will highlight packages that include shows, interviews, personalities and general festival fever buzz from Grahamstown for those who cannot be there. Each one will be an eclectic mix of mainstream productions, fringe shows, the visual arts, as well as highlights from the Winter School.

"We are proud to continue our association with the National Arts Festival," says Hannelie Bekker, Acting General Manager, SABC 3. "We are currently consolidating and entrenching our position as a public commercial broadcaster, reflecting amongst other things, the values and aspirations of South Africans with a global view. Broadcasting events like the National Arts Festival assists us in establishing this position and offers our viewers the chance to see this wealth of local talent."

The programmes are produced by Red Pepper Productions, who have made Options and Jam Alley for the SABC.

The National Arts Festival is proudly sponsored by the Eastern Cape Government, Standard Bank and the National Arts Council, with support from Shamwari Game Reserve. For more information on the National Arts Festival programme, visit the official Festival website at www.nafest.co.za or get extra info on www.myzone.co.za. Booking at Computicket.
