GETALIFE EXPO (article first published : 2002-03-18)

South Africa RAI is a subsidiary of the world Amsterdam based RAI International Communications Group, and is one of the largest conference and exhibition organisers in the country. It has a growing portfolio of expertly organised trade and consumer shows such as Decorex.

In August, South Africa RAI will launch a dynamic new consumer show titled GetALife Expo: The What's On, What To Do & Where To Go Expo. It will take place from August 2 to 4 at The Dome @ Northgate, Northriding, Johannesburg.

“The first of its kind in South Africa, GetALife recognises and endeavours to fulfil consumers' need to enhance weekends and spare time through indoor and outdoor activities, fun and entertainment,” says Maria Hook, South Africa RAI project manager: GetALife Expo.

A "How To Do It" section will provide show visitors with information about instructors and facilities where they can be trained in anything from water-skiing to designing jewellery or Tai Chi. "What's On" will be a walk-in diary with information on coming festivals, carnivals, fêtes, pop concerts, art exhibitions and sporting events. It will also highlight the finest clubs, pubs, restaurants and theatres in South Africa.

"A host of activities are planned to take place alongside the expo, such as a "Get Out Pavilion" featuring the latest club music, fashion and beverages, whilst additional activities such as jazz and modern dancing events and even appearances by cartoon characters will also entertain the crowds."

The "Where To Go" section will advertise places of interest ranging from day trips and train rides to game farms, casinos, museums and restaurants.
