ANDRE’S BACK (article first published : 2001-08-31)

KZN just can’t get enough of Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist! He is back again, this time at the Hexagon Theatre in Pietermaritzburg in a season which closes tomorrow night (September 1).

Andre the Hilarious High Flying Hypnotist – who always enjoys coming to KZN- has been working to develop new routines for his stage show which guarantees to have audiences rolling in the aisles.

"My show is a fast-moving outrageously funny production involving audience participation," said Andre. From the minute this entertainer walks on stage, the audience is immediately transported into a world of make-believe. It is a world where people vanish, chairs float, men give birth to babies, awesome roller coaster rides are taken, the craziest haircuts are cool, it is possible to be Superman and outlandish stories are all the order of the day.

It has been said that Andre is funny and his audiences are even funnier. Every show is different because the people on stage and their reactions differ. Other reasons for attending the show are being up on stage, experiencing the feeling of hypnosis and actually living these radical outlandish suggestions. Andre the Hypnotist’s show is an explosion of music, lights, make-believe and humour: an experience one thinks and talks about for a long time.

Chairman of the local branch of the British Council of Professional Stage Hypnotics, Andre is also a protégé of the late Max Collie and studied hypnotism as well as psychology in Britain and the United States.

Shows nightly at 19h30. Tickets R32 (R27 students on presentation of ID) available at the door from an hour prior to the show. Prebooked tickets through the theatre on (033) 260-5537.
