TBF HELPS (article first published : 2000-12-2)

The Theatre Benevolent Fund exists to support needy members of the theatre industry. During the past year, the TBF made donations to the amount of R7,982 to the estates of deceased members to cover funeral expenses as well as to members who could not afford medical expenses due to permanent illness or disability.

Monthly grants amounting to R87,998 were paid to 15 members who were unable to practice their profession or any other profession because of old age or permanent disability. Monthly grants ranged from R302 to R748. Five of these members sadly passed away, among them Phillip Boucher (whom Durban audiences will remember from Napac productions).

For more information about the TBF contact the Theatre Benevolent Fund, PO Box 205, Halfway House, 1685. Phone (011) 315-5084 or fax (011) 315-1865.
