NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The Playhouse Company will once again pack its mobile stage and various other vehicles with artists, technical and administrative personnel and loads of equipment and publicity material, and head for this year’s Standard Bank National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. After auditions which attracted 12 music and 12 dance groups from around the province, two groups were chosen to represent The Playhouse Company and KZN on the Playhouse’s Transnet Truck. These are the 11-member maskanda group Lahlumlenze from kwaMashu and the 19-strong indlamu dance group AmaZulu Ngoma Dance Group from Madadeni. Anyone heading for Grahamstown and this year’s Festival should watch out for these top home-grown acts performing free of charge on the Playhouse Transnet Truck in Mount Street.
