ABSA HONOURS TOP HISTORY STUDENT (article first published : 2000-04-1)

The banking corporation Absa recently presented the Group's first Museum & Archives merit award at a ceremony in the Absa Group Museum in Johannesburg. The award went to Bereng Mtimkulu, the top third year history student at Rand Afrikaans University, who has registered for an honours degree in historical studies.

The group museum, the only banking and money museum in the country, houses the world's largest collection of money used in South Africa as well as historical records stretching back to the early origins of Johannesburg. The museum opens its doors daily and offers educational programmes, particularly aimed at economic literacy, numismatics and financial history.
