INSPIRED! (article first published : 2008-08-15)

Participants can expect an explosion of their unique creativity when they sign up for INSPIRED! Held in some of Southern Africa’s most beautiful natural places, these uplifting weekends of creative connection are designed to support clarity of vision and foster free and full expression of each individual’s potential.

The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of talent or experience. Founded on the belief that each one of us is inherently creative, it will start with an in depth clearing of creative blocks. This will be undertaken with lightness and humour. Then, from a place of inner stillness, many forms of expression will be explored through creative play. Interwoven will be painting, crafting, music, poetry, movement and drama. There will be space for introspection, journaling and connection to nature as well as pure celebration of life.

Workshop facilitators Jane Ross and Margaret Rogers are both university qualified drama specialists with wide experience in the fields of creative Arts and alternative healing.

The workshop costs R750 pp and will run from 10h00 on August 30 in Umdloti through to 17h30 on August 31. As there is a festive evening session with a light supper on the Saturday night, ending around 21h30, participants are encouraged to stay over. For an additional R325 pp, (a total of R1,075 including the workshop fee), they may be accommodated at a nearby B&B with magnificent breaker views.

“We are running the weekend as a retreat,” explains Margaret. “A lot can happen overnight and people really need to give themselves time-out to relax fully and allow for gentle integration away from the demands of every day life. The sea with its changing tides is a great metaphor for the creative flow and will obviously be a strong presence. We aim to create a peaceful nurturing atmosphere for creativity to arise naturally, whether one is a professional artist practising in a chosen field, or simply a person longing for direction or fulfilment of some deeply buried potential.”

The aim is for participants to leave on Sunday evening feeling clear, relaxed, regenerated and truly Inspired!
