SUNCOAST AT EASTER (article first published : 2008-03-6; last edited : 2008-09-7)

The focus in Happy Holidays, Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World’s Easter programme, is on fun and entertainment for all …especially the children!

Now in its third year, the Miss Suncoast Pageant launches the season with glamour and style on March 20 in the Delano Room, Suncoast Conference Centre. Hosts for the evening are East Coast Radio jock, Trevor Williams and Eastern Mosaic presenter Jailoshini Naidoo. Doors open at 19h00 and the show starts at 20h00. Tickets R75 booked at Computicket or available on the night of the show.

Suncoast will host jazz giant Darius Brubeck and his Durban band, Rolling Revolution, live on the Suncoast Sundeck on March 23 from 14h30 to 16h00. Making up the band are Paul Kock on alto sax, pianist/keyboardist Burton Naidoo, bass player Concord Nkabinde, drummer Bruce Baker, vocalist Pamela de Menezes and leader and pianist Darius Brubeck. Rolling Revolution's repertoire includes original compositions, standard and South African Jazz. Entrance is free.

Holidays are a time for fun and there will be that aplenty at Suncoast this Easter. Clowns, games, prizes, shows and competitions are all part of the ‘Happy Holidays’ Kids Easter Programme which begins on March 20 and runs until April 13. From 12h00 to 16h00 each day, the roving ‘Easter Bunny’ will be handing out Easter eggs; craft-making activities including Easter egg decorating, card-making, a colouring-in competition and face-painting are on offer at the main entrance.

An exciting addition to the Easter programme this year is the Children’s Theatre component. Magic shows, singalongs and mini talent shows are on the bill on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14h00 to 16h00 on March 25 and 28 and April 1, 3, 8 and 10.

From March 21, the Suncoast Amphitheatre will be hopping with a varied musical offering. Steel drum and marimba bands, wandering Cape Minstrels and the regular jazz gig on the last Sunday of the month (March 30) featuring Soothing Sounds, provide something for every musical taste.
