BAT CALENDAR (article first published : 2000-02-5)

The BAT Centre has produced a fun calendar which celebrates many of the art forms promoted at BAT, such as finely crafted wood sculptures and exuberant soft beadwork sculptures and dolls, ancient profound clay busts and warriors drawn with wire.

The artists whose work appear on the calendar are Ruben Xulu, Mfundisi Xholo, James Zondi, Elizabeth Mbatha, Michael Mpungose, Obed Zulu, Zamowake Gumede, Bethwell Mahlaba, Sibosiso Maphumulo, Khulumelaphi Hlambisa, Hluphekile Zuma, and Lobolile Ximba.

This calendar is the result of the combined effort of Paul Mikula, Yusuf Patel, Peter Engblom for the photography and the frames, Maria Criticos for the layout and production, Manual Naidoo for collating and binding and Vanigay Dass for the word processing. The desk calendar (R20) and a wall version is available at the BAT Shop. Phone 332-0451.
