SANLAM SA FASHION WEEK (article first published : 2007-06-16)

Running from August 29 to September 2, the 11th Sanlam SA Fashion Week Summer 07/08 Collections will be held in Johannesburg.

The top designer line-up includes Durban personalities such as Amanda Laird Cherry, the Holmes Brothers, Terrence Bray and Colleen Eitzen.

The fourth Sanlam SA Fashion Week Collections Seminar has confirmed controversial brand guerrilla, Jan van Mol, as one of the international speakers at this year’s event in Johannesburg in August. Van Mol is the director of Ad!dict Creative Lab, a Brussels-based creative laboratory that has developed a system of using creative collaborators from different cultures and backgrounds from all over the world and from over 30 disciplines including fashion, photography, architecture, cooking, design, materials, music, advertising and branding to implement alternative branding strategies for clients such as Diesel, BMW and Redbull.

Van Mol is one of a number of high calibre local and international speakers that will participate in this year seminar. The event was first launched in 2004 to run concurrent with the annual Sanlam SA Fashion Week Summer Designer Collections and Exhibition and consists of lectures, panel discussions and interactive workshops focused on debate, discussion and knowledge transferral that can contribute to the further development of the local fashion and design industries.

The seminar will run from August 29 to September 1 with lectures on August 29 and 30 and workshops on August 31 and September 1. A range of packages is available ranging from R350 to R600 per day.
