THAILAND EXHIBITIONS (article first published : 2007-06-3)

Revel in the many delights of “The Land of Diversity and Refinement” at the Thailand Exhibitions in Durban and Cape Town in June this year.

The first ever Thailand Exhibition in Durban, takes place from June 21 to 23 at the Durban International Convention Centre with the Cape Town event taking place between June 28 and July 1.

The first two days of both expos are trade-only days, while the last day of the Durban expo and last two days of the Cape Town expo will welcome consumer and trade visitors.

The fun-loving Thais are perhaps only more passionate about food than they are about ‘sanuk’, or having fun. Be prepared to be greeted with “Sawadee!” which means “hello and welcome” in Thai.

Get ready to sample delectable foods, witness exquisite fruit carving displays, be entertained by dancing displays, and shop for textiles, stylish clothing and shoes, artful home décor and household products, candles, and an incredible array of arts and crafts.

Apart from its culinary and consumable delights, Thailand is rich in culture and history, and is one of the world’s leading tourism destinations. Where else can you lounge on pristine beaches, swim in tropical waters, dive Padi 5-star dive sites, shop up the proverbial storm, explore exquisite temples, eat five-star meals on the sidewalk and top it off with a massage that will leave you speechless; all in one day?

The Thailand Exhibition aims to promote and strengthen trade ties between Thailand and South Africa, and to introduce South African consumers to the brightest gem in Southeast Asia’s crown.

The Thailand Exhibitions are hosted by the Kingdom of Thailand and organised by the Department of Export Promotion – Ministry of Commerce, Thailand.

Opening times are 09h30 to 18h00 daily, except for the last day when the gates close at 16h00. Entrance is free.
