The National Arts Council of South Africa has appointed Seelan Naidoo as its new Chief Executive Officer until March 2008. Announcing the appointment NAC Chairperson Nicholas Motsatse said, "We are confident that we have found the right person to lead the comprehensive change process that the new Council believes is necessary over the next year. Seelan has an outstanding track record and combines deep scholarly and practical knowledge with a passion for the arts".".

Seelan Naidoo has extensive experience in strategy, organisational development, innovation and marketing. His corporate career spans 10 years spent at blue chip companies like Fedsure Life, Nedcor Bank and Standard Bank. There are many challenges ahead but I am confident of the support of our Council, the Department of Arts and Culture and our staff who, despite trying circumstances, never dropped the funding ball. I am also keen to engage the arts community about how we may serve them better."

Nicholas Motsatse paid tribute to Julie Diphofa who served as Acting-CEO for the last two years. "Julie Diphofa held the fort under very difficult circumstances and we are grateful to her for that. In the interim, she will serve the NAC as Chief Operating Officer."
