NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The Durban University of Technology’s cultural tourism research development project French Presence in KwaZulu-Natal/La Route du Prince Impérial, Louis Napoléon will be held in Pietermaritzburg from March to October this year. The first project will be on March 16 at the Durban University of Technology, Riverside campus, starting at 10h00. Other celebrations include a buffet dinner on March 16. On May 30 there will be a Celebration Concert at the Tatham Art Gallery. An art exhibition is planned for June 1 at the Voortrekker/Msunduzi Museum in Pietermaritzburg, with works on loan from the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire Militaires, Fontainebleau, France. Also in June is a Soirée Française, organised by Elisabeth Durham of Chez Nous B&B, and a Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Chapel in Pietermaritzburg.
