OUT TO LUNCH (article first published : 1999-11-22)

Dianne Barnard has an interesting line-up of guests for her radio programme, Out to Lunch which is broadcast on Saturday afternoons after the One O’Clock News on SAfm. On November 27, she talks to Napier Dunn who is best known as a newspaper cartoonist for The Mercury but is also a player of ethnic musical instruments, a film extra and has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro. An exhibition of Napier Dunn’s cartoons opens at The Gallery in Westville on December 1 (see Visual Arts).

Following that on December 4, there’s Professor Tony Fairall, director of the Cape Town Planetarium and avid stargazer from the observatory at Sunderland. Dan Ciorboli, artistic director of the major Living Treasures Festival which takes place at the greater St Lucia Wetland Park and in the Shongweni Resources Reserve (see Music) will be the guest on December 11.

On December 18, Dianne will talk to former director of drama for Napac (now the Playhouse Company) Murray McGibbon who is professor at the University of Drama at the Southern Illinois University. There will be no programme on December 25.
