SEWING, KNITTING & CRAFTS WORKSHOP (article first published : 2006-02-16)

The Sewing, Knitting and Crafts Workshop, held at the Greyville Race Course will be hosting its 16th annual showcase from March 16 to 18.

The Workshop’s 54 stands will each demonstrate a different craft or technique and provide the perfect opportunity to buy the latest craft supplies. Visitors will be able to see new and unique craft products and learn new skills in the free demonstrations.

Visitors will also be able to join hands-on workshops to make and take a project home.

Lyn Hex, co-ordinator of the event says, “Treat yourself to a day of new experiences. Be inspired by superb displays and learn culinary secrets from top chefs. Owing to the location of the Workshop, you will be able to learn about making jewellery, beading handbags, floral arranging, painting techniques and much more in a completely relaxed atmosphere. The public is invited to bring along a picnic basket and make a day of it.’

There are two ticket options: R115 offers entrance and complimentary lunch in the airconditioned venue and R80 where visitors take their own picnic basket along and relax at a spot of their choosing.

The setup of the workshop is such that visitors will be able to choose what demonstrations they wish to see through careful planning from a programme supplied on entrance. Prior booking is essential as entrance is limited to 600 people per day.

Doors open at 08h00 with the show itself running from 09h00 to 16h30 daily. Lunch is served from 13h00 to 14h00. More information through Lyn on 031 502 6359.
