LIQUID BLUE (article first published : 2005-12-5)

The 6th annual Reho Diamonds Liquid Blue Fashion Show takes place at Durban’s Ushaka Marine World on December 9 and 10 this year.

Created six years ago by Priscilla Camitsis, this event was planned to be a one-off to raise much needed funds to buy Gambit- the much loved Dolphin at Durban’s Seaworld - a new scale. And that’s where it was to end.

However, the event proved to be such a success that the organisers decided to make it an annual event. “The proceeds go towards Sea World and The South African Association for Marine and Biological Research (SAAMBR), an organisation committed to marine conservation through research and education,” says Executive Producer Tanya van Agthoven of GreenBox Productions.

The Reho Diamond Liquid Blue 2005 Fashion Show and eight of Durban’s invited emerging designers will allure fashion enthusiasts to the splendour of wearable, sensational garments which can be seen in a local designers store in Durban after the show.

Now established on the South African Fashion Calendar, the Reho Diamonds Liquid Blue Fashion Show has an added attraction as it provides a platform for new and emerging designers to showcase their talent to their target audiences and the fashion industry.

This year’s line-up includes the designs of Odysseus Shirindza, Rozanne Immerman, Joelle van Graan, Martin Mmagora, Nazreen Pillay, Sfiso Mthethwa and Christy Walker – names which are starting to attract the interest of the media and fashion enthusiasts. Added excitement on the bill is the participation of guest designer Terence Bray!

The “behind the scenes” team are equally professional and under the experienced and specialist eye of the Liquid Blue/GreenBox Production team, model agency ICE, makeup professionals Make up Your Mind, hair teams, Carlton Hair, choreographers Very Very Big Productions, staging fundis Black Coffee and photographer Chris Laurenz ensure that the presentation is superb and a must see. Well-respected guest judges add the finishing touch to the team.

Co-sponsored by Peroni, imate and Vodacom, Reho Diamonds Liquid Blue2005 tickets are on sale at Computicket at R100. Both evenings are limited bookings.
