RETURN OF HILARIOUS HYPNOTIST (article first published : 2005-07-22)

Once again local hypnotist enthusiasts are in for high voltage humour at the Elizabeth Sneddon from July 26 when well-known Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist is back in town.

Andre has been a well-known personality in the hypnosis field for well over 12 years with regular shows both locally and abroad. Bringing back what he has learnt on these numerous trips, audiences are in for a treat with new work that proves that a “Hypnotic Make Over” is in actual fact a hypnotised person receiving a make over by a hypnotic volunteer with unpredictable results.

Andre will also have a Jerry Springer moment when he causes turmoil with a few members of the audience. Or, why not believe that you are a French painter of high regard and whatever you may create goes a lot further than skin deep? All this is possible when you are part of the show.

The new show has people disappearing, chairs floating, men giving birth to babies, rollercoaster rides and a funky hair saloon where the zaniest hair cuts are considered to be fabulous. “My show is a fast moving outrageously funny production involving audience participation,” says Andre. From the minute he walks onto stage, the audience is immediately transformed into a world of make believe.

No two shows are the same as the audience members react differently to the tasks that are put before them. It has been said that Andre is funny and his audience members are even funnier. One can expect an explosion of music, lights and humour that will provide a talking point long after the show.

In this new show Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist reveals two things. One is that he has recently lost a large amount of weight through hypnosis and he will share his secrets with the audience. The other is that Andre will be raising the topic of talking with the deceased.

Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist appears at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from July 26 to August14. Shows Tuesdays to Saturdays at 20h00 and Sunday at 18h00. Tickets R40 (R50 on August 14) and block booking specials are available. There are specials on July 26, 27 and 28 (buy one and get one free). Book through Computicket.
