RUBAIYAT ON CD (article first published : 2000-08-18)

While recuperating from an illness, Durban engineer Kevin O’Shaunessy started on an occupational therapy project with a difference. This was to develop into a six-year process of a new English translation of the legendary The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, originally composed by the Persian poet in the 11th century.

The new rhyming version of the Rubaiyat is currently available in CD from leading Durban bookshops, with the author himself narrating both his translated version as well as the famous 1852 interpretation of the epic work by the poet Edward Fitzgerald.

This is Kevin O’Shaunessy’s first foray into the publishing world but his literary enterprise has whetted his appetite and spurred him on to produce a new book about the ancients who built Stonehenge. Three chapters of the new book have already been completed.
