TURNING THE PAGE 2004 (article first published : 2004-11-2)

The Centre for the Book has announced the second Turning the Page mini-festival for new writing in South Africa. In this, its second year, it will feature KZN writers Gladman Ngubo and Michelle McGrane along with Diane Awerbuck, Phaswane Mpe, Malika Ndlovu, Mary Watson, Nosipho Kota, Angifi Dladla, Lisa Combrinck and Arja Salafranca. Special guests will be Keorapetse Kgositsile and Chris Van Wyk.

The main events of the programme are two public readings by the featured writers on the evenings of November 4 and 5. Two panel discussions around interesting and perhaps controversial issues will be complemented by lively interviews with the writers around their responses to matters both profound and mundane.

R50 registration fee covers attendance to the entire programme at the Centre for the Book, 62 Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town, as well as refreshments, tea/coffee and a light lunch snack. Registrations can be made on-line at www.thewritersnetwork.org or contact Mark Espin or Phindiwe Sintwa on 021 423 2669 or fax 021 424 1484 or visit www.thewritersnetwork.org or www.centreforthebook.org.za
