WRITING WORKSHOPS & FORUMS (article first published : 2000-03-5)

A number of workshops and discussions have been arranged for the Time of the Writer festival (see separate article)

March 7 (14h00 to 15h00): Rudi Wester, of the Foundation for the Production and Translation of Dutch Literature (Amsterdam), and Adriaan Donker discuss "getting the literature of a small language across to an international audience". This takes place in the Grobler Seminar Room, A 325, MTB, University of Natal.

March 8 (14h00 to 16h00): Free workshop for new writers at the BAT Centre chaired by Emmanuel Dongala, Maryse Conde and Lieve Joris

March 9 (12h15 to 13h00): Forum lecture at University of Natal featuring Margaret Drabble, Nancy Huston & Gomolemo Mokae

March 9 (12h15 to 13h00): Forum lecture at University of Natal featuring Margaret Drabble, Nancy Huston & Gomolemo Mokae. From 13h00 to 14h00, Einar Már Gudmundsson and Adriaan Van Dis will be at Thuthukani Harm Reduction Centre.

March 10 – World Book Day – 10h00 to 12h00: Join writers Sylvie Germain, Ahmadou Kourouma, Lazarus Miti, Ruth Schweikert and Ivan Vladislavic at the NSA Gallery for an informal discussion on the Difficulty of Writing chaired by Stephen Gray.

On the same day from 12h30 to 14h00, The British Council will host Margaret Drabble and Gomolemo Mokae at The Marine, Gardiner Street, for a discussion on Fact & Fiction - The stories we tell chaired by Caroline Smart, editor of arSMart and D’ARTS magazine. All are welcome.
