LIVE POETS HONOURED (article first published : 2003-06-9)

Last month the Live Poets' Society became the first poetry group ever to be invited to introduce itself to the international audience which gathers annually at the Poetry Africa Festival in Durban's Sneddon Theatre. This is a tribute to the fine work produced by its members.

However, you do not need to write poetry to attend meetings. All are welcome and there is no charge.

Get-togethers commence with a guest poet who is then followed by members presenting their work on the evening's theme. In recognition of Youth Day, the topic this month is Youth. The evenings end with a Poet Pourri session in which those attending are invited to air their work on any subject they wish.

Meetings take place at 5.30pm on the second Wednesday of every month at Adams Books Coffee Shop in Musgrave Centre, so the next one is on 11 June. For more details phone Brett on 0835160517 or 031 2664762(a/h); e-mail thirdeye@3i.co.za
