THE DIVINE DAWNING (article first published : 2008-09-7)

Twenty-three years ago, in 1985, a first novel by an unknown South African author was published in America, Britain, the Commonwealth and several foreign countries. A Man Cannot Cry, a saga twenty-years-in-the-writing, became an international bestseller widely compared to The Thorn Birds and Gone With The Wind.

It got rave reviews world wide: in America, The Washington Post called it a wonderful book and it became a People Magazine’s Book of the Year, while in Britain it was a Bookseller’s Most Promising Title. Its unforgettable story captured young and old of both sexes and for years Keverne received sequel-begging letters from fans hoping she would take less time to put out her next epic.

Unlike Margaret Mitchell, Keverne has finally produced another work. Although, her second twenty-year stint has made her long-suffering husband wonder if her painstaking pace is a world record!

Readers who loved Keverne’s first novel should be equally enthralled with her newly-released second book which, like its predecessor, is largely set on a mission station in Africa.

It is also mainstream fiction with the additional dimension of a groundbreaking spiritual theme. The story, originally written as a single novel, grew so large it had to be split into smaller parts. The three books of the Josiah’s Kingdom trilogy are titled The Divine Dawning, The Sacred Dream and The Holy Purification.

The first can be obtained through reputable bookstores, while the second and third will be released at consecutive intervals.
