EGOLI & STEERS TEAM UP AGAIN WITH JAM (article first published : 2008-08-16)

In August 2007, the television soap Egoli partnered with Steers on the hugely successful Project 4000 and, with the help of the public, managed to raise over R400,000 to feed the hungry. The idea was the brainchild of the Egoli stars and crew as a way to celebrate Egoli’s 4000th episode.

Due to the phenomenal outpouring of charity from the public, Egol and Steers decided to join forces again this year, in conjunction with JAM (Joint Aid Management) under the new name Food4All, their aim being to make even more money than before, and to cement this wonderful initiative as an annual event across the country.

For one weekend only, September 12 to 14, the Egoli Burger will be available at all Steers restaurants around the country. For every Egoli Burger purchased on those days, Steers will donate all profits from the sales to JAM, a charity organization that has been distributing food to the poor for more than 20 years.

Some 19 Egoli stars will visit selected Steers outlets around the country on September 13 to show their support of the Food4All initiative. “We are making ourselves useful on September 13; we are hands-on, helping the hungry”, says Brumilda van Rensburg who plays Louwna Edwards in the show.

For anyone who would like to help feed a hungry child and support the Food4All initiative not only on the dedicated ‘burger’ day, they can donate R5 every time they sms the word “Food4All” to the number 36486. This sms donation line will be open from September 12 to 30 and all donations will go straight to J.A.M.
