DIFF DATES (article first published : 2006-11-15)

South Africa’s longest running film festival, the Durban International Film Festival hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Centre for Creative Arts, has announced that its 28th edition will take place from June 20 to July 1, 2007.

The festival will present over 300 screenings of films from around the world, with special focus on films from South Africa and the rest of the African continent. Screenings will take place throughout Durban including township areas where cinemas are non-existent. The festival also offers a seminar and workshop programme featuring local and international filmmakers.

The festival calls for entries from around the world. Feature films, short films and documentaries are all welcome. The festival does have a competition component. The deadline for entries is March 1 2007 for short films and documentaries (March 15 for feature films).

The entry form is available on the web: www.cca.ukzn.ac.za

The Durban International Film Festival is organised by the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN) with principle funding and support from the National Film & Video Foundation, National Lottery Distribution Fund, HIVOS, Stichting Doen Postcode Lottery, Department of Economic Development - KwaZulu-Natal and the City of Durban.
