NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. On March 16, the Pietermaritzburg University Film Club is to show Ingmar Bergman's 1966 film, Persona - a contender for the title of Bergman's finest film. This haunting and troubling study of the fluid boundaries of selfhood contains some of the most famous images in cinema, and two of the most famous performances - from Liv Ullmann, working without dialogue in her portrayal of an actress who has voluntarily given up speech, and Bibi Andersson as her young nurse. Films are at 18h00 in the CVA lecture theatre in Ridge Road, Pietermaritzburg, and there is safe parking.
