WILD TALK AFRICA (article first published : 2006-02-14)

Inspired by the wild, the South African wildlife filmmaking community will be given the opportunity - for the first time - to meet, network and negotiate with the rest of the global wildlife filmmaking industry at the Wild Talk Africa film festival and conference in April.

International and local delegates from the wildlife and natural history filmmaking community will be brought together under one roof at the Durban International Conference Centre (ICC) where representatives from Discovery Animal Planet, BBC NHU, National Geographic, Off The Fence Distributors and Tigress Productions will chair discussion groups as topical and current wildlife filmmaking issues are debated.

An extensive programme has been compiled and highlights include “Ethics in filming wildlife”- how far does one go to get the ultimate shot? “New trends in wildlife filmmaking” – what are Commissioning Editors looking for in 2007 and “Conversations with filmmakers” - get to hear valuable wildlife filmmaking tips from the experts. Screenings of top award-winning wildlife and natural history films will run throughout the festival.

The premier Wild Talk Africa film festival and conference takes place from April 24 to 27. Those interested should book immediately as early bird discounts apply.

Closely affiliated and an initiative of Wild Talk Africa, is the Wildlife Film Academy (visit www.wildlifefilmacademy.com) which runs successful monthly courses covering the whole spectrum of wildlife film production. Lectures are held in Cape Town, and include a week long location shoot in a Big 5 game reserve.
