TWEESTRYD (article first published : 2005-10-11)

The saying goes: "Two heads are better than one". kykNET puts this saying to the test with its new game show, Tweestryd, which was launched on October 6. Earlier in the year, this innovative and original format was chosen from more than 70 submissions and is one of two new game shows that will see the light on the Afrikaans DStv channel.

Countrywide auditions for Tweestryd contestants were held at the end of August and 60 couples were chosen to test their general knowledge and knowledge of each other on television. Contestants who will join forces from October 6 for heaps of cash include lovers, engaged and married couples, brothers and sisters, twins, close friends, colleagues, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters. In each episode, three couples will battle it out over four rounds - during the first three rounds they will accumulate points and in the last round big cash prizes are up for grabs.

The winners of each round will go through to a semi final round to establish which contestants will go though to the final. In the Tweestryd-final, the winning couple can walk away with as much as R100,000, plus all the winnings they've collected in previous rounds.

Jacaranda 94.2 fm radio host, Martin Bester is the presenter of this exciting 26 episode programme. This is Martin's television debut and he will have lots of fun with the multitude of entertaining contestants!

Tweestryd is produced by GrayWhite Productions who also championed the successful second series of ZING that was commissioned by kykNET.
