DUOLUO TIANSHI/FALLEN ANGELS (article first published : 2005-09-24)

The University Film Club in Pietermaritzburg will screen Wong Kar-Wai's Duoluo Tianshi/Fallen Angels on September 29.

With Wong Kar-Wai's latest film, 2046, about to hit the circuit, this is a good time to revisit one of his most inventive and stylish earlier works (1995). The film is in part the story of Leon Lai's disillusioned Hong Kong hit-man and the women who love him but has room for other vividly memorable characters, like the mute ex-con who opens up shops that have been closed for the night and forces hapless citizens to buy ice-cream.

Films are shown in the Centre for Visual Arts Lecture Theatre in Ridge Road, Pietermaritzburg, at 18h00. (Safe parking is available by entering the double gate immediately above the CVA. This gate will be opened between 17h45 and 18h00).
