CSI V (article first published : 2005-09-11)

The most popular crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise is back on M-Net for its fifth season. William Petersen and Emmy Award-winner Marg Helgenberger star in this edgy, fast-paced, one-hour drama about a passionate team of forensic investigators who work the graveyard shift at the Las Vegas Criminalistics Bureau. Their job is to find the missing pieces at the scene that will help to solve the crime and vindicate those who often cannot speak for themselves -- the victims.

CSI -- the acronym for Crime Scene Investigation -- tells the story of the little-known and less understood heroes who work crime scenes -- the forensic investigators. These are the men and women who work 24/7 to untangle the evidence behind the yellow police lines, piecing together seemingly insignificant puzzle pieces to nail the perpetrators and serve those who are most important and sometimes overlooked -- the victims.

Led by William Petersen, the crime lab team includes Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), a street-smart forensics expert who balances her love for the job with her devotion as a single parent to her young daughter; Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), a sharp analyst with a passion for his job who struggles every day with his gambling addiction; Nick Stokes (George Eads), who's got the charm and the chops, and craves the number-one spot on the board for clearing cases; and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), Grissom's trusted former co-worker, who sometimes plays fast and loose with the rules to get the job done right. The CSI team works closely with Captain Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle), their former chief, now assigned to the homicide division, as well as the eccentric DNA whiz, Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) now eager to become a full-fledged CSI himself. Rounding out the team is the steadfast Medical Examiner Dr. Albert Robbins (Robert David Hall).
