NOKIA FACE OF AFRICA (article first published : 2005-06-21)

Nokia Face of Africa Finalists got a taste of the fashion and modelling industry when they made their first special appearance during a show at the SAA Durban Fashion Week, held at ICC in Durban last week.

Amongst the top South African models they shared the stage with were Andi Manxiwa - from G3 models and also the Nokia Face of Africa Top 16 runway coach; Mirriam Ngomane- current face of Nivea; reigning Miss SA - Claudia Henkel, and former Miss SA, Vanessa Carreira. SAA Durban Fashion Week showcased the creative works of 30 local designers and some international designers.

The show drew a huge national and international media response, including representatives of the prestigious Fashion TV channel. This gave the Nokia Face of Africa finalists great exposure as they were introduced one by one, to great applause and admiration, during a runway in Versace and Lindiwe Khuzwayo creations. The event was a great chance for the models to meet the who's who of the fashion industry.

On July 10, these ten unforgettable faces will take centre stage at the Superbowl at Sun City, where a winner will walk away with the Nokia Face of Africa title. The grand prize at the glittering event is a USD125,000 prize from Storm Model Management. It's a calling card to the world's hottest fashion ramps, the world's biggest magazines and the world's best designers.

Don't miss out on the rest of the scouting process on June 26 and July 3 on M-Net at 17h00. The Nokia Face Of Africa 2005 Final will broadcast live on July 10 at 17h30.
