L'ATALANTE (article first published : 2005-04-27)

On May 5, the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg’s Film Club is showing Jean Vigo's 1934 film, L'Atalante. Although he made only four films and died at the age of 29, Jean Vigo's importance to European film has never been questioned.

L'Atalante, his exquisite, unconventional story of love lost and found, is generally held to be his masterpiece, an enduring example of pure cinematic poetry, reminiscent of some of the greatest achievements of the silent era.

The movie will be shown at 18h00 in the CVA off Ridge Road.
