LUDACRIS AT SIBAYA (article first published : 2005-04-21)

Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom was all abuzz recently as Grammy winner and Atlanta-based rapper, Ludacris, was on site for the filming of his new music video at the Zulu Fire Cultural Village.

The music video from his album Red Light District was shot in various locations around Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, a province fast becoming a centre of international production.

“We were really pleased to host the filming of such a high profile production,” said Melville Vogel GM of Sibaya. “The Zulu Fire Cultural Village provides an authentic and uniquely South African backdrop for this kind of production. There is much interest in Sibaya and we believe the venue will be highly regarded as a film location in KwaZulu-Natal.”

Asked about the choice of filming in South Africa, director Little X replied: “We love it here, it’s great and it’s beautiful”. Little X directed 17 videos in 2004, including notable ones for Usher featuring Lil’Jon and Ludacris. Locations included Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom and Zimbali Lodge both managed by Sun International which provided the background for Ludacris’ new music video.

Tidal Wave Productions, an innovative Durban-based company known for its reputation for providing successful production service with unvarying standards, was influential in the production of this music video.

Ludacris’ music video is sure to provide the perfect platform to showcase Durban as one of the South Africa’s top tourist attractions. The music video will further put a spotlight on Durban’s finest production talent to a global audience.
