WEDNESDAY COMEDY NIGHT (article first published : 2005-03-1)

Wednesday nights are comedy nights on M-Net, and from March 2 some marvellous men promise to keep viewers in stitches with the start of two highly acclaimed new sitcoms.

At 19h00 there’s the new Friends spin-off ,Joey starring Matt Le Blanc, who garnered a People's Choice Award as well as a Golden Globe nomination for his madcap performance in this new show. At 19h30, another Golden Globe nominee in the category Best Actor in a Comedy series, Charlie Sheen, plays one of the leads in Two and a Half Men.

Both these shows - exclusive to M-Net - also managed to win People's Choice Award for Best New Comedy series.

The show is about three men from two generations learning what it means to be a man. The third person in the equation is portrayed by pint-sized Angus T Jones. Described by Entertainment Weekly as 'nearly impossible not to enjoy', Two And A Half Men has been a huge hit in the US, floating around on the top ten list for many weeks in a row.

Charlie (Charlie Sheen) is a well-to-do bachelor with a house at the beach, a Jaguar in the garage and an easy way with women. His casual Malibu lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly - wound brother, Alan Harper (Jon Cryer), who's facing a divorce, and Alan's son, Jake (Angus T Jones), come to stay with him. Together, these two and a half men confront the challenges of growing up --finally.
