LOST (article first published : 2005-02-3)

After years of reality fare, scripted drama series are making a huge comeback on American television (Ed. Note thank heavens!!). One of the recent success stories is the big-budget Golden Globe nominated action series Lost. It managed to keep its position on the US Top Ten for weeks on end and helped the network ABC to make a substantial profit for the first time in four years.

Lost has all the ingredients to keep South African viewers spellbound. The thrilling ride to a mysterious island filled with mysterious creatures starts on M-Net on February 5 at 19h00. M-Net will screen the special pilot episode on Saturday its important not to miss it, as it sets the scene for the amazing twists and turns awaiting in the 22 episodes that follow.

Turning away from the trusted recipe of cop/lawyer/crime-scene action and drama, Lost follows 48 plane survivors who have to work together to stay alive on a creepy island. It's an adventure that will bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost. Thanks to the calm leadership of quick thinking Jack (Matthew Fox, Party of Five) and level-headed Kate (Evangeline Lilly), they have hope. But even heroes have secrets, as the survivors will come to learn.

The imaginative storylines, multi-layered mysteries and bold characters of Lost were created by J.J. Abrahams, the man behind Alias, and Damon Lindelof.
