DSTV LAUNCHES E! (article first published : 2004-11-30)

November 29, MultiChoice launched a brand new, 24-hour world-class international channel called E! Entertainment on channel 41 of its DStv platform in Southern Africa.

Viewers will now get the latest Hollywood glitz, glamour and popular programming from E!'s extensive library of originally produced entertainment series.

Programmed specifically for international audiences, the E! International Network is distributed via satellite and is available throughout Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

This festive season, DStv viewers will be spoiled for choice, because E! Entertainment has highly rated shows such as the Anna Nicole Show, Dr. 90210 and 101 Best Kept Hollywood Secrets as well as 101 Most Awesome Moments in Entertainment!

Other E! staples include the Emmy Nominations, the E! True Hollywood Story, E! News Live and Wild On as well as the network's exclusive Live from the Red Carpet coverage of the hottest award shows, movie premieres and live events.

"MultiChoice strives to continually add value to the DStv Bouquet by addressing a broad spectrum of viewing needs. And now we're delighted to provide our subscribers with a one-stop destination for all that is hip and happening in the international celebrity world. E! Entertainment is indeed the acclaimed authority in this genre, and we welcome another high quality channel into the DStv fold." says Linda Vermaas, General Manager of Content, MultiChoice.

Internationally, E! Entertainment's programming can be seen in more than 120 countries worldwide, reaching 300 million homes. In addition to its ventures for locally programmed, E! branded channels outside the US, the company operates the E! International Network, a 24-hour English language global entertainment channel available via satellite in Europe, Asia Pacific, The Middle East and Africa.

"This new deal with MultiChoice Africa confirms the amazing popularity of the E! brand on a global scale, and solidifies our presence in Africa," said Kevin MacLellan, senior vice president, international, E! Networks. "This year alone we have made strong inroads in Western Europe with channel launches in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France and now it's Southern Africa's turn."
