PROJECT FAME (article first published : 2004-08-20)

SAMA Award-winning South African acoustic rock outfit Watershed will open the Project Fame Gala show this Sunday (August 22).

Lead singer Craig Hinds has already appeared on Project Fame as a visitor to the Academy to discuss songwriting with the contestants. Watershed have toured South Africa, Germany, and other European territories, and receive regular airplay in those countries.

The group's first album In the Meantime is well on its way to platinum status in South Africa, flying high on the power of the songwriting and satisfying melodies. The big singles from In the Meantime are Indigo Girl and Shine on Me. The band's second album, Wrapped in Stone has cemented Watershed's status as one of SA's leading bands.

They'll be performing at an important juncture of the Project Fame experience - this week viewers will find out who the final five contestants are, and have a week to vote for a Grand Prize winner. Viewers will be able to vote for the contestant whom they think should win online or by telephone. Viewers from SA can vote for their favourite by calling or SMSing the contestant's first name to 083 123 FAME (3263), while viewers from the Rest of Africa can call +27 83 913 FAME (3263) or SMS 913 FAME (3263). Voting is also available on the Project Fame website - www.projectfame.co.za

Don't miss Watershed live at 17h00 on August 22 only on M-Net.
