Pop superstar, Sir Elton John is to make a special guest appearance on the final results show of the spectacular television special, World Idol. The results show, which will be staged in London on New Year’s Day, will reveal who has been crowned the World Idol, from the 11 national pop idols contesting the title. Sir Elton John will perform before a massive global television audience, with World Idol being broadcast to millions of viewers in all the participating countries.

World Idol is a two-part special and the appearance by Sir Elton John in the second show will make for a thrilling finale to the international competition. His World Idol appearance marks the start of a busy year for Sir Elton, as he heads off to perform a series of concerts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Sir Elton will perform 75 shows over three years at The Colosseum, beginning February 13, 2004. The engagements are titled The Red Piano and will blend his music with vibrant visual imagery to create a unique spectacular unlike any previous performance by the artist. He will return to the UK in the summer to perform two concerts at Wembley Arena on July 1 and 3, and another two at Birmingham, NEC Arena on June 28 and 29. The summer concerts will see him accompanied by his band and the Royal Academy of Music Orchestra & Choir, conducted by James Newton Howard.

World Idol will be screened on M-Net on December 24 2003 at 20h00. Immediately after the first World Idol broadcast, phone lines will be open for 24 hours for South African viewers to vote for their favourite World Idol.

World Idol result show will be screened on M-Net on January 1 2004 at 19h30.
