NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The Pietermaritzburg University film club starts up again on April 10 with Daratt, directed by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun as this week’s Thursday Classic. The film is set in Chad, in the aftermath of that country’s bitter civil war and poses the question of how the people of Chad can move forward after so destructive a conflict. Daratt is a moving and thought-provoking film. Membership: R100 for entry into all films shown this semester; individual viewings: R15 (R10 students). Films are shown in the Centre for Visual Art lecture theatre in Ridge Road, Pietermaritzburg
