MIDSOMER MURDERS X (article first published : 2008-03-24)

Starting on March 23 at 21h00 (Sundays) will be the 10th series of the highly entertaining Midsomer Murders as John Nettles as DCI Tom Barnaby and John Hopkins as Detective Sergeant Dan Scott return to the Hallmark Channel to tackle more murder, mayhem and mystery in the beautiful English countryside and scratch below the surface of picture-postcard village life to find danger and death

Adrian Lukis, Diana Quick, Cathryn Bradshaw, Julian Curry, Janet Brown and Emma Amos co-star as the sometimes eccentric residents of the peaceful Midsomer villages, with Jane Wymark as Barnabyís wife Joyce and Laura Howard as his daughter Cully.

Filmed on location in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, the Chilterns and the Home Counties, Midsomer Murders regularly attracts audiences of over 10 million viewers in the UK, and is sold to more than 180 countries worldwide. Coming up in the 10th series are:

Dance with the Dead: In a World War Two Humber, a body of a young man is found full of exhaust fumes. At first, it is thought to be suicide. But it soon becomes apparent that Simon Bright was hit on the head before he died. Newcomer Laura Sharp, his girlfriend, is missing.

The Animal Within: When Faith Alexander turns up in Midsomer to be reunited with her long-lost uncle Rex Masters, she finds that he has mysteriously disappeared. She also discovers that he has told everyone she was killed in a plane crash. When Rex's body is found in the weir, three of his friends, as well as the niece everyone thought was dead, all produce wills claiming his fortune.

King's Crystal: King's Crystal, a family glassware business in Midsomer Magna, faces ruin after the death of its co-owner, Alan King, in Shanghai. Six months later, his widow, Hilary, angers her son by marrying Alanís brother, Charles, who is now running the company. When Peter, the firmís accounts executive, is found murdered, Barnaby is called.
