NIP/TUCK MOVES TO M-NET SERIES (article first published : 2008-01-7)

The Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning series Nip/Tuck is back on the box for a fifth season, but this time round all the plastic surgery drama will unfold on M-Net Series.

“This year M-Net Series’ line-up is going to be stronger than ever before”, says Channel Head Tracey Gilchrist. “M-Net Series will be the home of many first-class international series and will also première returning seasons of some popular shows that cannot be accommodated on M-Net’s chock-a-block schedule.”

Nip/Tuck will now be exclusive to M-Net Series.

Nip/Tuck, which follows the hectic romantic and personal lives of Miami-based plastic surgeons Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), made American television history when its first season became the highest-rated series on cable television. The fifth season consists of 22 episodes, making it the longest season yet.

Season 5 of this cutting-edge show, renowned for its black comedy and bizarre plotlines, features a particularly strong female supporting cast. Despite rumours that she would not do another season, Joely Richardson, whose character Julia now lives in New York, will appear in 15 of the 22 episodes, Portia de Rossi will steam up the screen as a new love interest and gorgeous teen actress Anna Lynn McCord has been signed up to create chaos in the hearts of the surgeons from episode 3 onwards. Rosie O’Donnel also returns as lottery winner Dawn Budge and the doctors employ a Hollywood publicist, played by Lauren Hutton.

Fans of Nip/Tuck should therefore remember to tune into DStv channel 104 - M-Net Series - on January 9 at 21h00 for episode 1 of this brand new season.

Other top shows which will have their first run exclusively on the channel in January are Men in Trees Season 2 (starts January 30 at 19h00), Boston Legal Season 3 (starts January 14 at 21h00), Bachelor Season 9 (starts January 11 at 20h00) and Top Chef Season 2 (starts January 25 at 19h00). M-Net Series will also host Simon Cowell’s new reality show, America’s Got Talent – with judges David Hasselhoff, Brandy and Piers Morgan (starts January 12 at 20h30).

In February, the new season of Lost will also première on M-Net Series.
