BABY BOOM (article first published : 2007-12-9)

MNet Stars (Channel 154) will screen the entertaining Baby Boom on December 31 at 19h30.

Directed by Charles Shyer in 1987, Baby Boom stars Diane Keaton, Sam Shepard and James Spader.

JC Wiatt is a career woman. Sorry, make that Career Woman (with capitals). She has the power suit, the six figure salary, the upmarket Manhattan apartment and a live-in lover who, like her, doesnít have time for kids. But all that changes when JC inherits a relativeís baby daughter.

JC takes this unexpected development in her unique stride, knowing that she will soon give up the infant for adoption. But when the time comes, she balks. She canít let Baby Elizabeth grow up with just anybody! But JC realises she also canít keep her career and look after a baby. Sheís already lost her live-in lover, who just couldnít cope. So she quits her job and moves to the countryside, where she buys a ramshackle farmhouse, befriends the locals -- and starts a different but just as lucrative career. Who says you canít have it all?!
