MBEKI UNBANNED (article first published : 2007-07-21)

KwaCinema, the film team of Kwasuka Cutting Edge Theatre, will screen Mbeki Unbanned on July 25. The SABC has repeatedly pulled the documentary from being screened and audiences are invited to see the film that's been hitting the headlines. There will be a Q&A session with the filmmakers and a debate on freedom of expression and the role of the SABC.

This film has been sold out country-wide and, after the latest litigation with the SABC, this might be one of the very last screenings,” says the KwaCinema team. “It's more than the film that's at issue here, it's the SABC's determination for us not to see it. Come to Kwasuka next Wednesday and join us as we try to figure out why.”

Mbeki Unbanned will be screened at 18h30 on July 25 and Kwasuka Theatre is situated at 53 Stamford Hill Road (entrance in Kent Road). Tickets R20 selling fast so early booking is advised. Contact Karen on 074 102 1371.
