PINK FESTIVAL (article first published : 2006-08-25)

The Nottingham Road Pink Festival will be launched this year and hereby invites all interested parties to submit suitable production proposals for inclusion in the performance programme. The Festival will take place from November 23 to 25 in various venues in the Nottingham Road area and its surrounds.

Nottingham Road Tourism in a non-profit community organisation and its main objective is to encourage people to visit the Nottingham Road area. It is primarily a farming village but because of its location, is the main centre of the Midlands Meander route which attracts thousands of visitors to its area each year.

While the Nottingham Road Pink Festival is targeted primarily at the gay community, it is inclusive rather than being inclusive and is open to any open-minded individuals who wish to express themselves through the mediums envisaged in this festival such as art, music, dance and drama, be they performers or audience members.

The Festival is being presented by Nottingham Road Tourism in association with Very Very Big Productions and welcomes proposals for inclusion in the festival Main and Fringe line-up. All applications will be evaluated by the Festival Committee. While the organisation will strive to include most productions, inclusion cannot be guaranteed.

There are three main venues with seating capacities of 300, 400 or 500 people plus numerous other smaller venues more conducive to stand-up comedy and music events. There is also an outdoor amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 350 which is ideal for children’s theatre productions.

Application forms can be obtained by emailing Erica at: notts@bundunet.com

These should be completed and returned to this address by no later than September 15. Proposals and motivations should include all pertinent information regarding the production.
