ARTS MANAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM (article first published : 2006-04-17)

The Institute for Arts Management and Development at the North-West University in Potchefstroom invites all arts managers involved in managing the arts on all levels to attend this planned symposium.

The symposium is for all those involved in arts and culture structures in their local communities, theatre managements, artist managers, booking agents, directors, agents and government officials.

There is a top line-up of speakers who will discuss a range of topics:

Mike van Graan, MD of Article 27 Consulting (Arts Management in SA today – to be proud of or to cry about?); Deon Opperman, MD of Tanstaafl Holdings (Risk Management in the arts in SA today – management tool or consultants’ talk?); Karin Meiring, MD of KKNK festival (Arts Festivals in SA – lekker party or pillar of strength for the arts?); Henry Jeffreys, Deputy Editor Beeld (The arts and the media in SA today – flirting friends, partners or enemies?); Michael Maas, MD ArtsCape (The arts in SA today – beggar or growing entrepreneur?), and Dawn Robertson, PM of CreateSA (Education in the arts in SA today – are we getting somewhere or not?)

The Arts Management Symposium will take place on June 20 and 21at the North-West University, Potchefstroom. Cost R850/person which includes all coffee/tea, two lunches, evening function and all symposium material. Attendees are responsible for own transport and accommodation but a list of available accommodation will be supplied.
