AJIJIC FESTIVAL (article first published : 2000-04-4)

Festival 2000, the second Ajijic Festival Internacional de Cine taking place in Mexico from November 8 to12, invites students and professionals to submit entries in the categories of animation, documentaries, independent and studio-produced feature films, short subjects and screenplays.

Just 40 minutes from Guadalajara's Miguel Hidalgo International Airport, Ajijic (Ah-he-heek) is a 479 year old fishing village on the north shore of Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest lake. This village of narrow cobblestone streets has been a haven and refuge for artists and writers from North and South American and Europe since the 1920's. It is also renowned for its near-perfect climate and the area is known worldwide as "Land Of The Eternal Spring."

Entries for initial consideration by the festival jury must be received by July 15. These should be submitted in NTSC, VHS video. Those selected for inclusion in the festival will be screened in either 35mm or NTSC, VHS video
