Taking place from March 6 to 26, the Cape Town Festival is the official arts, culture and heritage festival for the City of Cape Town, showcasing the full spectrum of arts genres ranging from music, theatre and visual arts to dance, comedy and film.

This year’s Cape Town Festival boasts a record number of 27 productions totaling a whopping 71 dance, music and theatre performances. An exciting addition to the festival format is the Cape Town Comedy Festival hosted by top local funny-man Kurt Schoonraad. Best of all, most of the festival happenings are free!

Venues include the Artscape Theatre Complex, the Company’s Garden, Long Street, Bo-Kaap, Greenmarket Square, Obz Café, the Intimate Theatre, Independent Armchair Theatre, Distrix Café, On Broadway, Iziko Museums, the Market Stall in Sir Lowry’s Village and Khayelitsha

The programme includes the Cape Town Performing Arts Festival, Cape Town International Short Film Festival, Night Vision, Arts in the Garden, Cape Town Comedy Festival, Children’s Festival, In Touch Community Festivals and the Culture Talks.

At the Edge, written and directed by renowned playwright, Ronnie Govender, will appear on the festival on March 9 and 10 at 20h00 and March 11 and 12 at 21h00. Formerly based in Durban, Ronnie Govender is to re-launch his acclaimed production at the festival. It is a collage of stories brilliantly delivered by actor and household name Pat Pillai and the stories and characters revealed in this masterpiece are both hilarious and tragic.

The full festival program will be available on the festival website www.capetownfestival.co.za
