WOODSTOCK 5 - BLUNT STAGE (article first published : 2003-08-25)

The blunt Stage has become an institution at Woodstock. At this yearís festival, which takes place from September 25 to 28 there will be a team of photographers and video crew dedicated to the blunt stage and photos of the event will be published in blunt magazine.

The blunt stage will showcase the best in the emerging music fields. Soil 7t7 promises some thrilling surprises this year. "We will be funkin' it up on the blunt stage," says Bertus van Zyl. "The organizers have great vision and love for entertainment and a huge respect for all the performers. We are looking forward to the new setting at Roodeplaat Dam, and a crazy party without end. Try and keep up with us and make sure you don't miss our awesome show."

This will be the fourth year that Pet Flyz have played on the blunt stage. "I'm not exaggerating when I say Woodstock is the best festival in the country," enthuses Mark Fly. "It's an amazingly co-ordinated event, and the cool thing is that it doesn't just focus on one thing. It's not just a cool party, or just great bands, or an amazing atmosphere or any other single thing. It's all of that combined."

Woodstock is the first festival that gave the Phoebes a break. This will be the band's fourth appearance on Woodstock's blunt stage, and each year the crowd response proves how far the band has come.

Other bands on the blunt stage at Woodstock 5 include Nemesis, who are looking forward to their first big outing after being stuck in the studio recording their debut album, plus Gary Two Teeth & The Slash dogs, Esjay, 16 Stitch, 5 Star Channel, All This For Nothing, Blood Island Raiders (UK), Duck & Cover, Even Flow, N8ive, Odball, Pestroy, Plum, the Finkelstiens, Pyramid Tongue, the Narrow, and Wickhead.
