PUPPETEERS TO AUSTRIA (article first published : 2001-05-1)

Puppeteer Pamela Tancsik and storyteller Adi Paxton (Cherry the Clown) have combined their talents once again and are preparing for an exciting venture. They have been invited to perform as guest artists at the International Puppet Festival in Mistelbach, Austria (Internationale Puppentheatertage) which is to be held in October.

They have chosen to present African Fables using their unique combination of mime, puppetry, storytelling and magic. These puppets are also unusual in that they are based on wire-sculptures such as those sold on the roadsides. The three stories are Swazi, Xhosa and Zulu and all feature a tortoise.

There is much audience participation in this 50-minute performance which is suitable the young at heart aged 5 upwards. To book this production, bookings can be made from mid-June. Call Adi on (031) 201-2515 or Pamela on (031) 266-1760 or 082 403-1707 or visit http://mzone.web.co.za/residents/csread/tancsik.html
